Saddam Hussein's Hanging

I find this whole business with the Saddam Hussein hanging to be very strange and somewhat disturbing.  It all seems like from some other world to me.  Which I guess it is.  The whole thing just doesn't seem right to me.  Hard for me to put my finger on it ... other than I just find the death penalty to be ungroovy in general.  I mean I know Saddam did a lot of crappy things to his people but you know... he's not the only leader who has done crappy things to his people directly or ... from a lack of concern.  I think it could get pretty complicated if you really start sorting it all out.

Wrestling .... Seriously?  This is just incredibly stupid.

3. Shakira

4. Jessica Simpson

5. Paris Hilton

For christ's sake.  The very symbol of vapid celebrity culture.

6. American Idol

No.

7. Beyonce Knowles

It's sad that most of this list are "divas" like this - Just... what is wrong with people?

8. Chris Brown

I'm happy to say I have no idea who this is.  Wish I could say the same about the rest of the list.

9. Pamela Anderson

It's amazing that people still care about Pamela Anderson.

10. Lindsay Lohan

Somehow I think she may be the least annoying person on this list... But she's still pretty annoying.

Barry Bonds & Barry Zito

The Barry Brothers! ... I'm hopeful that the addition of Zito can give the Giants a real shot at the World Series in 2007.  They now have really quite an impressive pitching rotation.  I think if the pitchers have their best years - that they really have great seasons and fullfil their potential AND Bonds plays something closer to his 2001-2004 years this could be a seriously good team.  Now it's unlikely that Bonds at his age and with his injuries issues is going to be able to hit .350 with 40+ homers in 2007 but because of his superhuman feats part of me believes he will do just that.  He was in quite a groove for awhile there in September and if you remember - he was awesome in spring training before the injury.  Maybe if he can stay injury free he can do some amazing things in 2007.

Great Webhosting Service | AN Hosting

I've been moving all of my websites over to AN HOSTING.

Why?

Great Service.
Great Price.
No Hidden Charges.
Little Downtime (none that I've seen)
No Problems.

I've used other web hosting services that really suck.  Lots of down time.  Hidden charges.  Things just not working.  Lack of services.  Poor customer support.

If any of these things sound familiar - switch to AN Hosting today.

Smooth by Santana featuring Rob Thomas

So I just read somewhere (I can't say where, it's a state secret) that 7 years ago today the #1 song on the billboard charts was "Smooth" by Santana featuring Rob Thomas.  That was 1999 friends.  Almost 2000... well before I get off on a tangent about time and how messed up it is.  Let me deal with this Santana Smooth business.

I hated that song.  I hated it a lot - I remember it was everywhere like a plague.  Couldn't escape it.  I'm much more disconnected from that kind of crap nowadays which is great.  I really miss out on most of that kind of crap now and that's wonderful.

Just hearing about that song made me feel a little sick in my stomach thinking back to all of the times I heard it in 1999 and 2000.  But as sickly as I feel thinking about it (and having the song sort of reverberate in my mind right now because I'm thinking about it) I also feel really good that I don't think I've heard that song in a long time.  It might be 5 years or more since I've heard that song.  And that's a wonderful thing.  That's the sort of thing I risk when I workout at the gym.  I haven't been doing the whole gym thing recently but I've been meaning to get back to it.  But one of the worst things about the gym is the music they play.  Now I usually would bring headphones to listen to something good or to listen to the TV while on the treadmill or whatever.  But sometimes I wouldn't bring the with me and I'd end up having to hear the music they play.  While I don't think I ever heard "Smooth" while I was at the gym it's still the perfect example of the kind of absolute crap they do play at a gym.

I stopped going to the gym regularly around July ... but leading up to that time I was going a lot and I remember there was one song I just kept hearing over and over again.  It somehow sounded like an even worse version of Creed.  Now I *HATE* Creed so for something to be even worse than them is quite a statement.  I mean this was just a vomit inducing song of pure cheese.  I later found out that this song was by a band called Nickelback.  Which was sort of funny because I had heard a lot about how Nickelback  sucks but had managed to avoid hearing their music, or atleast I thought I had.  But all this time I was hearing this awful song... So one day at the gym I hear the song again... like I did seemingly every time I went there and forgot my headphones.  The gym music system never announces who the songs were by so I had no idea... I decided I had to find out who made this song so I could try and do something about it.  Maybe have my lawyer send them a cease & desist letter.  I remembered a few of the lyrics and typed them into Google to figure it out and there I go... lyrics to the song by Nickelback.  I luckily can't remember the lyrics or the name of the song right now or even how it goes.  This is a blessing.  This is the spirit of the universe protecting me from suffering.

In fact I must say that this song is much worse than Santana's Smooth.  Luckily I didnt hear it near as many times though.

Making Money Online Without Your Own Products

This is something I'm intensely interested in.  There are two major ways to make money online with your own products.  #1 Affiliate Program Commissions #2 Google Adsense (or other ad programs like the YPN which is Yahoo's version of AdSense.)

I've been working on this for nearing 2 years now.  I have had some success with it although I feel like I'm just beginning partly because of some lazyness on my part when things were easy.  I look back at that now and realize if I had pushed myself I'd probably be very well off by now.  But unfortunatly it took a few kick in the pants before I started putting in the work I need to.  But luckily for YOU I have learned a lot on my way and I am putting together a guide to help you in making money online without your own products.  Now notice I didn't say not your own website.  I believe now that having your own website is a good idea for sure.  You can probably still make a living without your own website just through direct affiliate links etc but I think you have to get really lucky and run an amazingly well run AdWords campaign to do that.. it's getting harder and harder to do that in other words and I don't recommend it.  It's a good idea to get comfortable with HTML and making your own websites.  Another possibility (while I don't recommend this either) is just using something like blogger.  There are *some* very successful websites just using free hosted solutions like blogger that take very little html skill and of course they are free.

I'm not going to talk about how EASY it is to make money online... that's not really what it's about.  To be honest I think it's easier to go be a braindead monkey at an office job.  But you also have to listen to bosses tell you what to do.  You have to get up at the crack of dawn.  so on and so forth... If it's important to you to be your own boss then this is the way to go.  But let me clear, it's not really easy.  Sometimes it can seem easy and other times it can seem like the hardest thing in the world.  But you will have to put in real work if you want to be successful.

If someone tells you you can make 100,000 dollars without doing any work you know that it's BS.  That's just not how things work.  Now it is possible to make a lot of money with little effort ONCE YOU DO THE INITIAL WORK.  That is very true and one of the exciting things about this... once you have a money making website up you can make money on "auto pilot" (well usually some small upkeep is necesary...)

Right now I'm just putting this project together but I'm going to use this crazy weirdbiz platform just to sort of throw out some of my ideas and talk about it.  You are really getting the real deal here if you are just thinking about internet marketing and making money without your own product.

so this is a strange website isn't it... a strange blog.  complete insanity one post and then I'm talking about making money online.  Well thats sort of the idea.  Just whatever comes into my brain area - you know - I'm going to talk about it.  Making some money online gives you a lot more time to think about things and to chew brains.

iTunes would love for you to believe that services like napster are a thing of the past and that really, the only way you can get music for your ipod is to pay 99 cents per song at the iTunes store.

of course this isnt even close to the truth.

There are lots of very good iPod Downloading services online that usually just require a one time fee to join and then you can download UNLIMITED songs.

Magic Johnson

I was a huge basketball nut growing up... and Magic Johnson was my
favorite player. I was 14 when he announced he had "the HIV" in 1991.
It's amazing it's been more than 15 years now since that announcement
back in November 1991. Really amazing to me. Also really amazing to
me... and really even more amazing that I'm just realizing how amazing
it is. This is just the pure ridiculousness of Magic Johnson's name.
I mean really. I know his real name is Earvin. But he was known and
is still known by most as MAGIC Johnson. It's just such an insane
name to go by. It's like something if it was in a movie would be WAY
over the top. I love how crazy things happen all the time in life ...
but because they have happened they're normal. If something in an
imaginary world it might be seen as nutty.

John Lennon - Walls and Bridges

As a long time Beatles fan - they've been my favorite band for...
oh... 11 years now? I've had all of their recordings for quite some
time... I've got a decent amount of their solo stuff (mostly paul and
john) but it wasnt till this past week that I finally got "walls and
bridges" (and also "mind games") by Lennon. I'd always heard they
weren't that good and whatnot so I never bothered before. I've been
pretty pleasantly surprised by both. While they arent perfect albums
and there's some stuff that doesn't hold up very well there's also
some really great songs. I'd like to give a longer more indepth look
at this album when I get a chance... for now I'd like to talk about
something important... Magic Johnson's name.

science | faith

in no way am I saying... YES! Weirdbiz is now a music blog.
Weirdbiz is like life. It cannot be defined. It is like life in that
is rambling and incoherent. Do you really think any of this makes any
sense? We are just like blind men searching for a key to a door that
doesn't exist. That can bring a lot of sadness - this idea of
meaninglessness and that's why people made up God and all of that sort
of stuff. That's all well and good. That's why people study the
fabric of this reality and call it science. That's even better. But
is it truly getting us closer to anything we can really call truth?
It is only a way to understand this place we happen to be in - but it
doesn't really go deeper than that - that's why... I don't really
think that science and spirituality are some kind of mutually
exclusive things - I think they really don't have anything to do with
each other because they don't seek to answer the same questions nor
could one ever hope to answer the questions the other one does. Faith
and spirituality are no way to to try and understand this particular
existance. It's just silly. We have facts... we have data - we have
things to go on. Superstition is stupid and lazy. It's not deep.
It's not interesting. There's nothing good about it. That being
said... while I respect science I don't think that studying the
information we have in this world is necessarily everything ...
because how could it be? I mean it may be everything we can state as
a "fact" but it's all a fact relative to this being whatever it is.
In any equation you must have some sort of number to start with... you
must have some sort of jumping off point... it's not all just random
floating information that makes sense within itself... there's really
no such thing. What I'm getting at is... Science will never be able
to tell us what is outside of our Universe. Science will never be
able to say - this is the only universe ... there's certainly no
reason to "believe" or to have "faith" in any thing else - that's not
what I'm getting at - I'm just saying there's no way of knowing beyond
that. I believe I read Stephen Hawking once say that there was
absolutely know way of knowing anything about what happened before the
big bang... now I know there's a lot to study on what happened after
the big bang so... it's not like we have it all figured out... but to
me that shows the limits of science... the limits of our understanding
using the facts and figures of our world... don't get me wrong I find
science fascinating... but science is really only the study of this
world - the study of what is true ... here... and that's great. I can
see the POV that thats all we should really worry about. but I think
there's some sort of longing for something that goes even further...
and that's why people have created Gods as long as they've been
around.

the olivia tremor control - dusk at cubist castle

I'm always trying to spread the word about the olivia tremor control.
They are one of the most underrated / overlooked bands ever. They
made two absolutely amazing albums one in 1996 called dusk at cubist
castle and another in 1999 called black foliage. You definitly need
both of them as I believe them to both be equally great in their own
way. That being said I would suggest getting dusk at cubist castle
first as it seems a little bit easier to get into initially due to the
way it flows although black foliage's production is a bit better so
for a new listener...

I bring that up...

Hm - well one thing about the olivia tremor control is they are often
classified as a "lo fi" band... although if that term scares you be
aware that i usually don't really like bands who classify themselves
this way ... I don't really consider the olivia tremor control to be
lo fi. They do have that sort of sound in a way but ... for me their
production is a huge part of my enjoyment. They really know how to
manipulate sound but they do it in a way that is refreshingly "analog"
sounding with all of today's digital manipulation - it makes it sound
a lot more natural in it's unnaturalness if you know at all what I
mean. if you do know what I mean please let me know. It's hard to
even really write about this music in a way - that's one of the great
things. It's easy too - that's another great thing. I feel that
listening to these albums. Well you know I've titled this post dusk
at cubist castle you know - so let me just focus on that one. This
album! This album is just a journey you know. There's so many albums
you can just listen to and forget... I don't see that with this one.
It's a huge sprawling album but it all works together and I really
feel the more I listen to it - the more I hear in it. The songs are
immediatly catchy. The songs are also immediately psychedelic - both
in the sound of the songs and I feel more importantly in the structure
of the songs - the places the songs go - it's not only unexpected but
it's meaningfully unexpected - you actually are taken by your hand and
shown behind the door. I would say that you need to listen to this
whole album wearing a good set of headphones... It certainly wouldn't
hurt anything to make sure you are in that special state of mind - a
state of mind that is open and receptive ... this is not background
music - it is something to truly experience. whatever you need to do
to get tot hat point.

ah, you know, i used to know it better. that was one of those ones

these things we take for granted, as if they have some sort of meaning.

well anyway - this is day #1, post #1, a new beginning so to speak.

incoherence, inability to focus, crapping all over the mind brain of

I said nothing about Gerald Ford! That's for sure!

I've got a little surprise up my sleeve for Weirdbiz though... there may be a whole new level of weirdbiz and random insanity here starting tomorrow. we'll see how it goes. I'd like this site to sort of be an outlet for my pure insanity. a place to let everyone see the dark lemon that lives in my arm leg. i mean sure, you may say, you've seen him before and he sucks. well fuck off my fruitfly maggot monkey - this shit is the way it's going to be.

that may not be the kind of language you like to hear !

sorry about that. we'll try to keep the rude language to a minimum. there may be children around. you wouldn't want them to hear bad words. i mean hell. .. bad words. what's that even mean? sometimes when you ... i mean that's the whole thing - if you THINK about most shit you have to realize it's all fucking garbage. of course you can take that to a really crazy place - or maybe the most sane place - and you realize of course that EVERYTHING is relative. once you get there though - there's nothing to stop you from doing anything and society whirls into a ball of madness... and really that would suck. life is kick ass - you know - i dont know what the hell it is or whats it all about - but even when it sucks - its pretty great. atleast it seems that way to me. i mean it's great to exist and to think about things and all of that. i really like it. i mean sure sometimes it feels like some weird dream and i'll wake up and realize i'm a rock.

i'd hate being a rock, no blogs to post or anything
