FUCK THE POLICE.
This is fucking ridiculous. This guy was manhandled and then TASERED for asking a question. Fuck The Police. All of these police officers should be fired. This is AMERICA. I'm tired of people's rights not being respected. FUCK YOU POLICE. This is goddamn AMERICA. FUCK YOU! You do not have the right to do this to people. I'm tired of people in power thinking they are the power. No! The police are not the law, they are merely people who are supposed to be protecting people and upholding the law. People need to wake the fuck up. This is NOT OK. All of the police involved with this should be fired. Immediately. Not only that, this guy should sue the fuck out of the police department.
This seems like a fitting addition to this post: NWA - "Fuck Tha Police"

I wish you would get tasered for having such a mediocre vocabulary. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK... you sound like an 8 year old who just learned to swear.
Pussy fart bitch!
FUCK is a completely reasonable word to use in a situation like this. People should be FUCKING mad that this sort of shit goes by and all we have is little maggots like you who don't give a shit. This is supposed to be a FUCKING free country and I'm absolutely sickened by the average American's complete misunderstanding of what it means to be an AMERICAN. Guess what being an American has absolutely FUCKING nothing to do with? JESUS. THE BIBLE. STARTING WARS. OIL. These things have nothing to do with the true meaning of America and what this country was founded on. FREEDOM. FUCKING FREEDOM. Try that on for size you dimwitted smallminded little FUCKING twit ass motherFUCKER.
I believe that all people should be able to engage in intelligent debate, however if they cannot act like decent adults, corporal punishment is acceptable.
In other words, you should get FUCKED IN THE ASS BY A TAZER.
"corporal punishment" WTF? you are a stupid motherfucker.
You skullfuck 8 year olds.
nope. i don't do that actually.
So now that this intellectually stimulating debate between myself and "anonymous" is over... anyone else want to add in what they think about this?
*crickets*
I agree with you "weirdbiz" - this sort of abuse of police power should not be taken lightly.
I'm sure that anonymous is probably one of the pigs who did it. Absolutely rediculous. Watching this video makes me wish I was there to start a riot or some shit.
You make it seems like he said, 'Hey, what do you think about blahblah', and police came out of nowhere and zapped him. Cause THAT would be being tazered for merely asking a questing. And yes that would be wrong.
That's not even close to what happened here in the video. The guy got on the mic with the sheer purpose of acting like an idiot, and was stopped from doing so. Instead of giving up and walking away, he made more of a scene by trying to act like a bigger idiot.
When you're faced with the police threatening to tazer you, your best option is to comply and walk away calmly. Not stand there looking like a huge attention seeking fagbag yelling, carrying on, and acting like psychopath.
I'm glad they tazered his ass, and if it were me, I would have kept tazering him until he finally shut up. Then I would have scheduled an appointment with his sorry ass to come in once a day to get tazered for one hour at a time, until he ceased to be a huge fuckwad.
The end.
Anyone so far think to point out that the police were asked to escort him out of a place which he had no legal right to be in. Its not his building and if they want him to leave he has to, he didnt he refused and struggled. If tazering him was a safer way for the people who were just doing their jobs to get him to leave then so be it.
Anyone else realise that he had no right to be in that building if they asked him to leave?
They asked him to leave and he was legally obligied to do so, he didnt so they asked the police to show him out. Far from doing nothing wrong he was breaking the law.
"When you're faced with the police threatening to tazer you, your best option is to comply and walk away calmly."
I disagree entirely. What makes you think that the police have the right to threaten to tazer someone in such a situation? Obviously he was aggressive about asking his question - the point is - aggressively asking a question is not enough reason to be treated like a criminal. What the cops did is criminal. It's criminal to treat American citizens who did nothing wrong like that. It really pisses me off when people try to justify by saying "well he was acting like an idiot" or something like that. So what!? I don't care how he was acting, I don't think the police should be allowed to do that.
He was doing something wrong he was breaking the law by refusing to leave private property.
Ben.
What a load of bullshit... he should sue. I cant wait for the retaliations of Iran ... because we know the attack is going to happen.
Ben - why did he have "no legal right" to be there? he was asking a question like everyone else. we have to be a nation where people can freely exchange ideas. i don't want to be in a nation where someone is thrown out of a building just for asking a question that some people do not like. Kerry seemed fine with the question and was going about answering it - why did there have to be this interruption? The police are supposed to "keep the peace" - what they did in this instance was anything but that.
TJ - it's people like you that don't understand what America is all about. FREEDOM motherfucker, freedom. that's it. everything else is bullshit compared to that. FREEDOM.
He had no legal right to be there because he was asked to leave by the people who owned the property. Ive attended lectures where people have been rude and heckled the lecturer and they have been asked to leave. If they dont they are breaking the law because its private property. Its quite simple.
And more to the point thats not the full story, he pushed past alot of people to ask that question instead of waiting his turn, since your so hung up on rights what about their right to ask their questions? What about the right of the owner to choose who is allowed on his property and who is not?
If the police escort and obnoxious fan running around on a football pitch thats okay but not an obnoxious questioner?
After watching the video it is clear that the man might have over reacted at the beginning with the forcefulness of his questions, but the fact the police tazered him with him restrained does seem unjustified. The only thing Id like to see is the events before the student started asking the questions and after when he (I presume) was drag away. As seeing the video only shows a little of the events in between. If the person was being hostile before he got onto the stand then the cops actions would be justified, if not then he might have a case. Also was he defiantly a student and was the area he was in public or private property. I'm not sure the law on American Universities, so Ill leave that to whoever here can answer that. Basically this needs to be explorerd more with some eyewitness statements of the events. The video on its own is too open to speculation.
Your shouts of "Freedom!" and "This is America!" come with limitations. Freedom itself has limitations. Freedom does not mean you may do as you see fit, whenever, wherever, or however you see it. The moment you begin using your "freedom" to infringe on the rights of other people, you are abusing it.
Yes, the kid has a right to ask a question. Sure, he was a dick about it. So be it. Should the police have asked him to leave? Nah, probably not. It did say in the article that he went over his allowed time limit and he was mad because his microphone was shut off. That's life folks. Every many and woman deserves freedom, not just you. You have to respect other people too.
He was asked to leave, he refused, and struggled. I saw no point where he was at all "restrained" because he kept fighting. He should have shut his mouth and walked away or just sat down. How hard is that? He asked his questions, got his point across. He was finished.
I still say I would have tasered the shit out of him until I ran out of batteries, but eh, that's just me.
"I disagree entirely. What makes you think that the police have the right to threaten to tazer someone in such a situation? Josh: The police have the right to threaten to taser anyone in any situation. That's not against the law. No, it's not right either. But it's not illegal.
That's another thing. People do not have the right to question the action of police as it's happening. That is what a court of law is for. You have only a basic set of rights, labeled The Miranda Rights, and that's it. Had he been tasered, and not acted like a flailing, fighting, mouthy idiot, I would be in complete agreement with the rest of you.
He was not simply just asking a question here, he was intentionally seeking to argue against the speaker and incite disorder by shouting like a moron. Such behavior is obviously not acceptable in a place where that many policemen happen to be stationed nearby, meaning the conference in which he was attending must have had some kind of importance.
He was struggling and resisting arrest. Had he even attempted to reason in a nonviolent manner, there would be no reason for the officers to use force. Was the tazer necessary? Well if someone is resisting arrest and flailing around, it's safer to incapacitate them through a nonlethal means than to risk a serious injury. For all they knew, the man could have been armed.
"When you're faced with the police threatening to tazer you, your best option is to comply and walk away calmly."
If you find yourself in that situation, chances are you've already started resisting arrest and become a visible threat to the officers and passersby.
Not only should they be fired, the should be jailed. for a long time. that was a huge violation of rights. Whoever sanctions these sort of actions must also be jailed. swiftly.
What was he asking anyways? I could make anything out of it.
Ha some 70 year old Great grandmother is getting charges pressed against her and went to jail and a cop made her fall down all because she didn't water her lawn same thing as went on here What happend to freedom?
that's disturbing.. i can't believe they did that.
The speaker should have acknowledged his questions, let the man finish talking, and come back with a compelling answer..
Obviously this speaker and his people weren't prepared for any opposing view.. So they sick the police on the guy...
Rerally disguting.. I hope all those police officer's rot.
From Yahoo news:
Meyer refused to leave the microphone after his allotted time was up, police said. He had asked Kerry about impeaching President Bush, why he didn't challenge the 2004 election results and whether he and Bush were members of the secret society Skull and Bones at Yale University.
After Meyer repeatedly and loudly refused to walk away, two officers took him by the arms. Kerry can be heard saying, "That's all right, let me answer his question."
Audience members applauded, though it was difficult to tell whether it was for the officers' action or Kerry's remark. The audience for the most part sat quietly and watched the fracas.
Meyer struggled for several seconds as up to four officers tried to remove him from the room. He screamed for help and tried to break away from officers with his arms flailing, then was forced to the ground and ordered to stop resisting.
As Kerry told the audience he will answer the student's "very important question," Meyer yelled at the officers to release him, crying out, "Don't Tase me, bro," just before he was shocked. He was led from the room, screaming, "What did I do?"
An officer, however, said in the police report that Meyer's "demeanor completely changed once the cameras were not in sight" and that he was "laughing" and "lighthearted" on the way to jail.
Kerry, D-Mass., said Tuesday he regretted that a healthy discussion was interrupted, and said he never had a dialogue end that way in 37 years of public appearances.
"Whatever happened, the police had a reason, had made their decision that there was something they needed to do. Then it's a law enforcement issue, not mine," he told The Associated Fuck in Washington.
I completely agree that if he was asked to leave then he should have. Keep in mind that I think it's ridiculous that he was actually asked to leave, but he was on private property. If someone asks you to leave their property you should. And since he was asked to leave and he didn't then the police certainly have a right to escort him off the property, but tazering him because he didn't understand why the police were taking him is absolutely absurd. Tazers should be used on people who are a threat or who have a weapon. This guy was not a threat, he was simply an inconvenience. Tazers should not be a police officer's tool to force people into complying. I always thought tazers were just a non-lethal alternative to guns. Would they have shot this guy if there were no such thing as tazers? I hope not. Americans should be encouraged to be outspoken, not tazered for it. After all it is the first amendment. America needs to change. And if things aren't different after the 2008 election, I'm leaving. Land of the free? Not anymore. This is proof.
Here's a links to John Kerry's blog entry about what happened yesterday. It's been well spun to indemnify him:
http://SpeedyLink.net/3t5
John Kerry talks a load of bollox! Read what he had to say about the man that was attacked, abused and tortured in front of him yesterday at Florida University. What a spineless wanker! He claims that he could not see the man being abused, attaked and tazered. He stood by and did nothing! He even clains the a he could not did not see it.
Post on his blog and tell him what a spineless little shit he is for ALLOWING this to happen under his direct supervision. Here's what I posted on his blog in response, I bet it won't get published:
What utter bollox! Who wrote that spin for you?
"I hope that neither the student nor any of the police were injured."
What? The Police getting injured? Are you still smoking crack?
Why did you not stop the fascist police from tazering Andrew Meyers after he merely asked you a simple question at the University of Florida?
Be a man and apologise for this abuse of power and torture that took place directly in front of you.
You had my vote in the past, but after seeing your lack of appropriate reaction, you have lost my total support you spineless little man. Oh, please don't tazer me too.
Just in case you can't recall what took place, here's a reminder:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CheY0jYXJjY
I felt the police grossly over acted in their roles yesterday. With the look of joy on their faces, I'd also say that some of the officers saw it not much in the way of a job but rather a means to satisfy their own vices. -A sign of a corrupt law enforcement officer.
Update: the jackass police officers have now been suspended from duty. I hope they lose their jobs and get a taste of a tazer some day.
"America, land of freedom" - sure it is
"God bless America" - sure america need bless
The problem was that the student was annoying the main speaker, he was not pleased and he order the security to remove-it, because the truth is not always a good thing for those who hold the power.

When are some of the "Proud To BE Americans" going to man up and fucking do something about this shit! If i was there id of started a fucking war against the police department. 5-6 cops vs. about 200 people...you tell me who would win...
He fucking deserved every bit of it...He resisted arrest...FUCKING MORONS. Get yalls head out of your ass and try to think, before opening your pie hole. MORONS. AND FUCKING FREEDOM...OKAY I PLAY THAT FUCKING GAME. MMMM...Freedom...He was requested to get off the stand...He resisted. So, I would think that since he was asked then he should clamly get the fuck off cause someone asked him too, but he didnt listen like the ignorant piece of shit he is. Kind of reminds me of you pieces of shit. My point is, is there is no getting to yall fucking idiots cause he is a Bush hater and you support him in anyway. ITS A ONE-SIDED FUCKING WORLD or yall and most of shoutwire.
nah nah nah, I don't buy into that "he resisted arrest" bullshit. so the fuck what. we shouldn't treat police officers like they are God's right hand. they are just human beings. they are not the law, they are only people who are hired to enforce the laws. that gives them absolutely no right to do what they did yesterday. from what I could tell, Kerry was fine with the question and was answering it... why not just let him answer the question instead of all of this power tripping BS? People who abuse their power are the worst kind of people in the world. again, let me reiterate: Fuck The Police.
THIS MOTHERFUCKER copy/pasted my post without even linking to me. goddamn cunt.
he added the link now (after i bitched him out) ... still think it's pretty lame to copy/paste someone's entire entry. write your own shit, bitch.
the fact that people try to defend the actions of the police in this matter just shows how much some people want a police state with martial law. these people just don't understand america. their disrespect for their own freedom (and everyone elses of course) is truly dangerous.
No, I didn't read all 40 comments so maybe my view has been stated. Oh well.
I'm also aware that by this being longer than 3 sentences only 20% of you are likely to read it. I promise you might learn something. But once again, I'll take my chances.
I'm all down for freedom of speech, but there does come a point where you are making more of a situation that than needs to be made. As far as i'm concerned that guy went up there with an agenda to defame and disgrace Kerry at an event where he was the center piece. Now, logic says "if I go up there are start attacking this guy they're probably going to do something to prevent my actions."
Now let me preface this part by saying I am not a security professional, but I am military with SOME security training. Even rent a cops are trained on how to respond to different situations. There's something called a threat perception chart. It starts with compliant. Easily understood, no real need to elaborate, but I will say that the presence of a dog is allowed. Then it goes to resistant - passive, but it doesn't get fun until level 3, resistant - active. At resistant - active, and that's precisely what this guy was, you are allowed a dog, yes, one of those super aggressive german sheppards OFF-LEASH. While this is NOT standard procedure it is acceptable. Now, which would you rather? Tazered for 4 seconds or a dog that wants to maul your face off?
In summary, pick your spots to be all freedom of speech. Once it gets to the point that handcuffs are being used on you, pipe down and deal with the situation because you've already lost and it can only get worse from there.
This makes Me Absolutely sick to watch as being a journalist, and seeing the first amendment basically shat on is crazy. Ok yeh he may have overreacted, but they had no right to do what they did in the first place to him, Somewhere down the line a lot of you forgot where you lived and thats USA, where it is free to say what you want in a public Forum, after they cut his mic he looked as though he was going to sit down, however that was when they decided to arrest him. I think he should sue the shit out of the state, there were 6 cops there for one person, and then they Tasered him, my question to them was, wast here a threat he had no weapon he just kept asking what am i be arrested for, This is bull shit and needs to be looked at im going to forward this to every attorney i know so someone can find this kid and get him what h e deserves, this was absolute Bull Shit
This is an OUTRAGE!
this type of criminal activity by our own countrys' service men shall not be tolorated.
to all those who belive this was fair treatment, im sure you are the type of person who keeps thire head down and doesnt voice opinion. Its ludacris to think that this brave person was arrested for posing some questions that are hard to hear, but none the less need to be asked.
I do belive in activism, and sure enough this WILL turn into this generations vietnam.
p.s. I do agree with the activist, bush realy should be impeached.
I am a police officer and we have rules to obey... rules of engagement, and rise of force. By rise of force I mean that if the man doesn't seem violent there is no way to over react by tasering him. There were 4 police officers against one single man. Don't tell me that in a situation 4 vs 1 the officers were unable to control a man already on the ground and probably already handcuffed. The man in this video never acted in any violent way and by any means I don't want to talk against my profession because we have not seen the complete situation on video... but from what we see here it is an abuse of force.
Corporal - It's nice to know you guys have rules!
And I know not all police officers are bad folks... I just wonder about people who get into that line of work. It seems to attract a certain type of individual. The type of person who gets off on having power over others.
AMERICA!!! FUCK YEAH!!!
the land of freedom
:):):)
That fat bastard police guy is laughing about it.
I would have to say the guy deserved it. It was private property and I think its pretty apparent they were trying to get him to leave peacefully at first. When you struggle/resist thats a sign of hostility. I know if I were a cop I would have no problem tazering the guy. I mean come on when he keeps fighting what else are you gonna do? Id rather be safe and use non lethal force then not and end up getting stabbed or what not.
Anyone who says the Police tasered him for no reason are a bunch of suburban ganster rap wannabes. Kid was making a scene, then when we was being removed was resisting them. Notice him pulling away and making aggressive actions when the guards first arrived? Oh, but that doesn't matter does it.
Then notice how the camera seems to cut out and come back in with buddy standing, then on the floor surrounded. Looks like the person editing took out a key part, most likely were buddy lashed out or made the last move which required him to be stunned to get him from the building.
Guards were in the right here. buddy deserved it.
Both parties were in the wrong.
First, Mr. Meyer was in the wrong because:
He obviously did not follow the rules of the forum. The police would have had no reason to try to cut him off and try to escort him of the premises if he was following the rules. Now if it was a case of trying to censor his questions while he was following the rules of the forum, that's a different story.
Also, he resisted arrest. That in itself is dangerous, even IF you didn't do anything wrong. If you were wrongfully arrested, you get yourself a lawyer, then sue the pants off of people.
Second, the authorities were in the wrong because:
Sure, Mr. Meyer was resisting arrest, but are you telling me that 5 officers of that size could not get him into handcuffs without using a taser?
Now, brian in post #19 asked if any of us had x-ray vision to see if he had a weapon. But why would we need to check for that in this situation?
The use of violence is only acceptable is when a person poses a threat to others or to his/herself. This was not the case. Could it have escalated to the point where he began to show hostility towards Mr. Kerry? Yes, but thankfully (and correctly) the authorities stepped in before things could have gotten out of hand. But tasering him? I'm sorry, but that's a step too far, seeing as how he didn't even assault anyone physically and was already on the ground at that point.
Weirdbiz, welcome to the New World Order. The West (including Australia where I come from) is slowly but surely turning towards fascism and the police-state mentality. The answer? I truly don't know. I don't believe it will come easy, however. I'm afraid that violence will beget violence and in the end when the lines are drawn, there will be blood in the streets, and jackbooted thugs will impose the will of the greedy elite upon the rest of us. Fear is replacing freedom as the no.1 priority of the western democracies. Forty years after the Kent State massacre the establishment are still attacking kids who ask for nothing more than PEACE.
First I would like to point out that there is no way that Jeramiah is a journalist because journalist don't type things in slang terms(IE - yeh for yeah/yes), they also know how to capitolize the letter "I", also know the difference between a comma and a period, and do not use the words Bull Shit within their works. But then again he uses his right of freedom of speach to say that he is of that profession.
Point number 2. As it states, this event took place at a University, Florida University to be exact, so infact that location is NOT private property as a paying student of the University, he does hold some claim over it, just like renting an appartment. If Andrew Meyers was a student at this university, he had every right to be at the convension, even though his actions were quite out of line when he displayed his opinion publically. In this case with him being out of line he could infact be asked to be seated till he can ask his questions professionally, but not removed from the event. When the police had used the tazer on him, they were quite out of line too as the tazer is one of their final resorts to calm/prevent a scene from becoming dangerous. With him just talking/yelling/resisting unlawful arrest(without striking a officer) and 4+ officers present, the situation was completely under control, which would warrent the use of the tazer as illegal use of force, possiably the reason for their suspension(either that or it was to cover their own hides).
So basically I am also neutral on this, because neither party was completely in the right.
posted by,
a dissatisfied 22 year old US citizen.
he was not tasered for asking a question, he was tasered because he was causing a scene, resisting arrest, making threatening gestures, and generally acting disruptively. sure, the taser was extreme, and the cops there were wankers, but im glad they did take him down. perhaps if he were to ask questions properly he wouldnt have been attacked as aggressively. seems like typical american behaviour to me, loud, opinionated and disruptive when things dont go their way. and to the idiot who claims people like me want a "police state with martial law"...personally id like to see a complete removal of the legal system. kinda doesnt fit with your theory there.

That was just wrong on all accounts. This is suppose to be the Land of the Free. Yeah fucking right. More like the land of shut your mouth about shit we don't want to answer or else. All those piece of shit cops should be fired, lose there pension and then some. How would they like it if they got tasered in front of there family and friends for asking some questions. That would be a start for punishment for them. If a regular person like me did some shit like that shit I would be sitting in county right now on a 100,000 bond. What the fuck makes them so different... oooo I forget they get paid by the state so they can do what they want.
Regardless of what words were used. His question was completely valid and he should have been left alone. Although personally I think he went into it a little too much. Why not just ask the question?
Honestly the only reason he had no right to be there was because the question he asked didn't pander to the forum they had created. Life is unfair and the only way ANY change is ever brought about in this world is if people stand up and decide to use there freedom of speech to speak out about what they see as wrong. When your holding a debate you don't simply ask people who have an opposing viewpoint to leave the debate.... otherwise its just more blind praise and if thats what they were after why call it a debate and let people ask questions at all why not just put up a nice big sign that says "Come on in and tell this guy how great he is and then leave quietly" or better yet he can stay at home and have either his wife or mother tell him that he's special and people like him and save the space for something with a little depth.
Anyone who gives a shit about their first or fourth amendment rights needs to rally around this issue.
by all means, this shit was ridiculous. I understand reprimanding the guy after disturbing the rally, even kicking him off of the premises. But, this is just another case of a savage abuse of authority. I think that all of those officers should be tasered in a public location, so that we can show the police that they need to BACK THE FUCK OFF
Did the police overreact? Pretty much they did. The dude should have been left to finish his rant. What the fuck was Kerry doing? Looks like fuck all to me. The police are total fuckwits in their nazi like uniforms. What was that slut officer doing - we should go back to when bitches were chained to the sink. Who wants to live in a "democracy" where you get your assed tazered for opening your mouth. Least the dude didn't go down like a slave.
I'm not sure why you're so surprised. As you said, this is America.
So what some of you are saying is that in a public debate like this where anybody can ask questions and important questions, you just can't ask about touchy things that need to be answered... If you speak the truth or what everybody (a lot of people, the ones not comatose by the system) thinks or wants to know, you get asked to leave so the important issues are faded away, and if you claim your right to be there and ask, you get tazered...! WOW THATS THE AMERICAN WAY! I always tought it meant something else to be american. I guess this is the flip side of the coin...
@ Zeratha.
I couldn't have said it better!

What a load of crap. Im at university now and if someone comes in on a talk or lecture drunk or yelling or behaving badly they are thrown out. You can be expelled from university you know. Just because you pay for something doesnt mean u have a right to it. End of the day if he had gone along with the arrest quietly none of this would have happened, how can you not atleast give him some blame? It wasn't about his question and those that think it is need their heads examined, it was about the aggressive manner in the way he behaved and the question was asked.
Well oviouslly some americans want there questions awnsered, i cant believe it is against the law for a citizen to ask a member of the countries Elite for a compelling awnser! that is there job and they should be criticized at every turn to awnser to the true power the people.that was no reason for such actions and i think is a scheam to help the men in power from actually being condemed for there actions. If it is so that, fine hes not allowed and was ordered off the privite property if it even was that... how about a rally where we can question the president and so forth in an area where we are allowed to demonstrate our issues and acctually get awnsers for controversial topics. A growing number of citizens have come up with compelling issues that i think everyone agrees should be addressed... But yeah right like that will ever happen... the only way america will see a change now is with a massive civil protest (yeah right), i think the country is in alot of trouble and anyone whos does there own research will realize that the government is very corrupt. When are americans going to learn that this is not a way to a country.
OMG...Corporal is not a cop. ROE...FUCKING IDIOT. NO, rules its called law. This guy was acting like a damn worm on the ground and not letting them cuff him, resisting even more and yall still think they were in the wrong. STUPID. This weapon did no damage to him and if Corporal was a "police officer" he would know that it is used to stun the nerves, not to do any damage. Corporal go back to playing World Of Warcraft. Lying sack of shit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsHw92t0q0E
here is how others feel
I think you misunderstand me... Within the profession we DO have rules! I am NOT talking about law, I am talking about the escalate of force, want me to explain? It is like the Geneva convention, you are NOT allowed to shoot somebody in the back for example.
In the police it is the same thing. The suspect does not have a weapon, you are NOT allowed to use yours on him unless there is a significant threat. In the video the man was on the ground surrounded by 5 officers. The need for force was inadequate if you past the line of bringing under control. They were 5 against one and they were over him. The need to tase the man was definetely inadequate.
And you were talking about the taser being non-lethal so it can be used freely. WRONG, you never know when somebody is cardiac. In the service we ALL need to be tased and pepper sprayed during our training to know what it feels like before we do it on somebody else. I don't like to use my taser but it is much better than using a gun, however 10 hands on one man already on the ground; you don't need that taser. It may be NON-lethal but it is a weapon. Yes maybe the man was annoying, yes maybe he was agitated but as long as he is not a major threat we should never use any weapons. We have aikido classes and some people in the service practice martial arts, we use our hands and legs first to control the situation.
One last thing, police officers are not judge, we don't administrate punishement. Even when sometimes people are arrogant and disrespectful we think in our heads, "I would like tu punch that guy" we are not supposed to do it, we are peace agents our job is to control the situation, and the justice of our country does the major task of administrating the punishement. We must have faith in our system even when sometimes a situation appears unacceptable.
Thank you
P.S sorry if I make mistakes in my commentary, English is my second language.

Authority
1. Who has the authority in this situation? Would it be the questioner, the building owner, the participants, the police, or the guy answering questions.
2. In this situation everyone has freedoms, but not everyone seemed to have authority.
3. Was authority abused?
Well authority should keep people same from harm, promote peace, allow freedom, and most importantly separate the good from bad.
(authority used in this situation)
Please tell me this is not what our future is coming to.
