Dexter Season 3

I was getting pretty concerned about Dexter’s quality when this season began. It didn’t seem to be hitting quite the same level as the first two seasons and some of the things that were happening didn’t seem very realistic. But as the season has gone on and the characters have become more fully developed (in particular Miguel Prado of course) the quality level has increased substantially. And those seemingly unrealistic events earlier in the season are actually quite well explained by what we’ve learned about Miguel since then. Like a puzzle it’s all starting to fit together.

Episode 10 (”Go Your Own Way”) really took it to the next level. I won’t give out any spoilers as I don’t want to ruin the enjoyment of this great series for anyone but I will say that the relationship between Miguel & Dexter I think has now actually eclipsed the intensity of the Dexter/Ice Truck Killer (Season 1) and the Dexter/Sgt. Doakes (Season 2) confrontations of the first two seasons.

I think Dexter is without a doubt the best drama on television right now. The only show that’s in it’s league overall is Curb Your Enthusiasm which is obviously in an entirely different genre. Although Dexter is actually pretty funny sometimes.

If you haven’t yet watched this show then I highly recommend buying season 1 right now. This is not a show that you can just catch up with. Every episode (and season) builds upon what came before. Start from the beginning.
