Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
Well well well. What have we here? This don't make no damn sense. Yes. That's how I interpret it. The moon is not a "lesser light," it is merely the light from the sun reflected. I like how they just throw in that he made the stars also. The stars, of course, in reality being much like our own sun just many many many miles away.
I just don't get how people can read this sort of biz and take it literally. It's just insanity. It doesn't make any sense. It doesn't relate to the real world we know about. Sure many thousands of years ago when they didn't know anything about the world it was fine and dandy but now we do and it isn't. To me taking the Bible literally is like using medicine from the Middle Ages instead of modern medicine. We've moved on. Hmm... We've evolved. The real question is: Why haven't you (bible beaters) evolved too?
