Mario Brothers On Wii Fit 2?
I was playing the bubble balance game today on the Wii Fit and I started thinking about how the game is really similar to an early Nintendo game in a lot of ways (except for the 3D aspect of course) in that it’s very simple with a real clear goal. There’s these bees that buzz around in certain patterns and that reminded me of the original Mario Brothers game and the way that things would happen in certain patterns and you would have to move through the game in a certain way to get through.
Then I came to this idea: It seems possible that you could actually play the original Mario Brothers game by controlling Mario with the balance board (that comes with Wii Fit) and the controller in your hand. You could move forwards and backwards and jump using the balance board (you would jump something like you do on the tight wire balance game.) Then you could use the controller for doing things like shooting the fireballs.
And I really think to make it truly awesome they shouldn’t update the Mario Brothers game at all, they should leave the game play just like the original version, the only difference is that you are controlling it via the Wii Fit. Maybe they could make an updated more 3D version too but, they definitely have to have the classic version.
I don’t know if anyone at Nintendo has thought of this idea yet. So we need to make sure they hear of it before they complete Wii Fit 2 (actually I haven’t even heard anything about them making a Wii Fit 2 but I’m sure they will considering the success of this one.)
WeirdBiz’s message to Nintendo: Include Mario Brothers as one a “balance game” in Wii Fit 2. I’m sure this would be a huge hit and it seems like it’d be pretty easy for you guys to pull off. Hell it should be really simple compared to the crazy biz you guys up to most of the time these days.
And really this could just be the beginning. And I guess that’s another realization I had today. There’s going to be some pretty amazing things you guys can do with this whole physical activity = movement in the video game. You could really just get totally wild with it. I hope that’s the plan actually. Maybe video games are the answer to America’s “obesity epidemic.” Imagine if kids were playing all of these “fitness” versions of video games all the time. That’d be better than playing the “thumbs” version of ‘em anyway.
Also, Wii Fit is awesome. I am using mine every day and I’m losing weight with it. Plus it’s fun. I like it a lot more than my other video games (with the possible exception of Rock Band.)
