Swedish Police Officer Dancing

In the United States there are more and more laws being made making it illegal to videotape a police officer. Meanwhile, in Sweden this is what happens when you videotape a cop:

Hmm… which one of these countries is supposed be the “land of the free”?!

Theory of No Still Picture

I’ve come up with a new theory while watching Fletch tonight.

I believe there can be no such thing as a “still picture.” Why? Because there is no moment in time that is so small as to be still. Think about a camera that takes a photo in 1/4000th of a second. That’s definitely small enough of a fraction of time to appear to be “still” but is it actually so? Isn’t there still some bit of movement during that time? There has to be.

Basically what I’m saying is that I don’t think cameras see as quickly as our eyes do. Thus, if we stare at a picture hard enough we can actually see the movement that is in that was captured by that photo. It seems to be that only when you really grasp what this means that you can actually start to make that fraction of the tape play.

I use that word “tape” for a picture because in reality, a “picture” that was taken in 1/400th of a second (for example) actually contains 100 1/4000ths of a seconds that are blurred together (and each of those moments are also just a blur of moments.)

I realize the math may be wrong there, but the theory is correct. Damn you! Wait. Let’s not get into some sort of argument, I’m not even sure what you’re saying right now. I hope I’m not … fuck it… I’m done with this one, it’s getting too weird. Maybe you weren’t supposed to know this.

Lost: The Complete DVD (or Blu-Ray) Series

Lost ranks as one of the all time great “weird” TV shows. I still find it strange that a show that is as unusual as Lost has had so much mainstream success. It’s very cool that it happened, but I don’t really understand how it happened!

And now with the final episode having aired (there will be no spoilers here - I hate spoilers!) you can now pre-order the “Complete Series” of Lost in both DVD and Blu-Ray formats.

It’s very important that you watch this series from the beginning and in order. This is all one huge story and every episode tells it’s part of the story in order (more or less.) You will be missing a lot of the magic of this series if you don’t watch it from the beginning. You should also avoid spoilers as much as you can. This show continually surprises the viewer, and you don’t want that experience to be ruined by knowing what happens later on in the series.

Other Awesome “Weird” TV Shows:

Carnivale: This HBO show only lasted two seasons as it never really caught on with the public, but it should have. It’s brilliant. It’s another show where you want to watch it from beginning to end as it’s all one story.

The Mighty Boosh: This UK comedy is absolutely hilarious (and frequently bizarre.) It reminds me somewhat of Flight of the Conchords (but it must be pointed out that The Mighty Boosh predates that more well known - in the US - show.) Although the Boosh is quite a bit more absurd and “over the top.” Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing depends on your taste, I think they’re both great shows.

Dexter: In this Showtime series a serial killer is the “good guy.” That’s pretty weird. It’s one of my favorite shows, although I must say I don’t think it’s quite as consistent as Lost and it doesn’t work in the same “big story” kind of way. It is the only show mentioned in this blog post that’s actually still on the air (it’s 5th season comes out this fall.)

Northern Exposure: A great “quirky” dramedy from the early ’90s. The quality level on this one does drop off a bit towards the end, but the first few seasons are definitely worth checking out.

Twin Peaks: Absolutely brilliantly insane (as one would expect from David Lynch.) Watch it from the beginning.

Sit Stay Fetch Review

Dogs are usually good pets but they can also be a lot of trouble from time to time and this is why so many dog owners are turning to the Sit Stay Fetch DIY Online Dog Training eBook to learn how to train their pets to be well behaved all the time. This is an inexpensive guide that can be bought online 365 days a year.

While it is true that there are many positives to hiring a local pro dog training expert there are also some not so good things. A local dog training expert is likely to be more expensive than ordering a DIY dog training book. Another negative is that you aren’t necessarily learning how to control your dog yourself, but instead you are relying on someone else to correct their behavior problems.

On the other hand a professional dog training expert is going to be much more skilled than you will be just by learning from a guide.A professional dog trainer is going to be much better training dogs than you could ever hope to be by reading an eBook you downloaded online !

That being said, if you do really want to go the ” Do It Yourself” route then I believe that SitStayFetch by Daniel Stevens is quite obviously the right choice. It is a guide that has worked for lots of other dog lovers and it’s satisfaction guaranteed(with a sixty day total money back refund time period.)

This guide was written in an easy to follow kind of way that allows you to easily find out how to fix any particularly behavior problem you may be having with your pet including problems with barking and potty training.
